Years ago, the science fiction movie The Fantastic Voyage was considered a mere figment of the imagination. Many wondered if it would ever be possible to inject a miniature submarine with a crew into the human body to repair the damaged parts from within. Today, it is almost a reality with the M2A. A miniature camera in a capsule that can be swallowed with a sip of water is a fact. From the beginning of this millennium capsule endoscopy, a well established tool for evaluating the entire small bowel for various pathologies has become a reality. However, capsule endoscopy, as yet, does not have the ability to repair the damaged gastrointestinal tract.
