Efecto del vendaje neuromuscular en un paciente con sialorrea

Abstract

Resumen Antecedentes y objetivo La sialorrea es la perdida no intencional de saliva a traves de la cavidad oral que afecta a la calidad de vida de los pacientes. El objetivo del trabajo fue comprobar, conocer y describir la posible utilidad del vendaje neuromuscular en un paciente neurologico con sialorrea. Descripcion del caso Varon de 54 anos con dano cerebral que presentaba sialorrea y disfagia evaluada a traves del Swallowing Disturbance Questionnaire, la Generic Scale for Dysphagia-Related Outcomes Quality of Life, la Drooling Rating Scale, la Sialorrhea Clinical Scale for Parkinson's Disease y la Drooling Severity and Frequency Scale. Intervencion Se aplico un vendaje neuromuscular sobre la musculatura suprahioidea con el objetivo de estimular el proceso de deglucion y asi evitar el acumulo de saliva. Se coloco una tira 5,5 x 2,5 cm mediante aplicacion con traccion desde los extremos y tension aproximada del 50%. Se mantuvo la venda adherida 24 h al dia durante 4 semanas. Resultados La evolucion del paciente fue satisfactoria, aumento 16 puntos en la Generic Scale for Dysphagia-Related Outcomes Quality of Life, redujo 7 puntos en la Swallowing Disturbance Questionnaire y 6 puntos en la Sialorrhea Clinical Scale for Parkinson's Disease y paso a 0 en la Drooling Rating Scale. El numero de veces/semana que mojaba la ropa se redujo de 52 a 18. Conclusion En el caso clinico presentado el vendaje neuromuscular reduce la severidad y frecuencia de la sialorrea, por lo que debe contemplarse como una herramienta barata, facil de aplicar y sin complicaciones en el tratamiento de esta.
