Numerical dynamic tests of masonry-infilled RC frames

Abstract

Several numerical dynamic tests of two-storey masonry-infilled reinforced concrete frames were performed by previously developed numerical model of authors. Bare frames, fully masonry-infilled frames and masonry-infilled frames with openings, with variants of high-stiffness and low-stiffness masonry, were studied. Uniform harmonic base excitation and base excitation by three real scaled earthquakes were applied. Among other, it is concluded that cross-section dimensions of frames, rigidity of masonry, openings in masonry and type of dynamic base excitation have significant influence on behavior of masonry-infilled reinforced concrete frames.
