The present study aims at validating pushover methodologies for RC frame structures through comparison with Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA). A large number of simulated response spectrum compatible time-histories has been used to perform incremental dynamic analyses, and results are analyzed in a statistical manner. Three different pushover procedures have been considered, i.e., conventional (first mode load distribution, uniform load distribution) and Displacement-based Adaptive Pushover (DAP) methods. With reference to three case studies, comparison of static against dynamic results has been carried out in terms of capacity curves, interstorey drift profiles, maximum top displacements and failure modes.
