Perfil histológico e inmuno-histoquímico del carcinoma medular de tiroides esporádico y familiar

Abstract

Resumen Introduccion En el carcinoma medular tiroideo (CMT) el perfil histologico e inmuno-histoquimico esta mal definido. El objetivo de este estudio es determinar las caracteristicas clinicas, histologicas e inmuno-histoquimicas del CMT, y analizar si existen diferencias entre los carcinomas esporadicos y familiares. Material y metodo Se han incluido 55 tumores confirmados histologicamente. Fueron revisadas las preparaciones histologicas y se llevaron a cabo las tinciones de inmuno-histoquimica de los bloques de parafina del archivo. Resultados De los 55 carcinomas, 19 (35%) fueron esporadicos y 36 (65%) de tipo familiar. La distribucion por sexo es similar, sin embargo, los carcinomas familiares tienen una mayor frecuencia de pacientes menores de 40 anos (p Conclusiones Los CMT familiares presentan con mas frecuencia hiperplasia de celulas C y multicentricidad, y los esporadicos muestran con mas frecuencia focos de necrosis, hemorragia, invasion vascular y neovascularizacion. Ni los criterios histologicos ni los inmuno-histoquimicos son arquitecturales para diferenciar las formas familiar y esporadica.
