Wilderness emergency medical services
Emergency medical service providers are increasingly being asked to respond to unfamiliar environments. The challenges encountered have spurred the development of courses designed to enhance the rescuer's knowledge about wilderness medical topics and how to work and travel safely in a hitherto unfamiliar environment. This article describes the evolution of these courses, discusses the challenges of curriculum development, and lists some of what is available.
