
Abstract A model for impedance of DMFC cathode is developed. The model shows formation of the methanol oxidation reaction dominating domain (virtual anode) at the membrane interface. With the growth of the methanol crossover rate, the thickness of the virtual anode increases. This anode manifests itself as a separate high‐frequency semicircle in the cathode spectrum.
