A class of nonlinear nonautonomous single-input uncertain control systems is considered. An adaptive variable structure controller is proposed to stabilize the system to a desired state vector. The main result is an adaptation scheme for tuning the parameters of the controller in order to guarantee the negative definiteness of the time derivative of a suitable constructed Lyapunov function. The performance of the proposed scheme is tested on the control of a Duffing oscillator. Corresponding simulation results are also presented.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 39 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
