Fluorose dentaire : diagnostic étiologique

Abstract

Resume La fluorose se definit par une alteration des tissus dentaires durs par surcharge en fluor. Cette affection est consecutive a un apport excessif de fluor chez l'enfant pendant l'organogenese des couronnes dentaires. Les instances medicales recommandent, dans un but de carioprotection, un apport total journalier d'agents fluores egal a 0,05 mg/kg, sans depasser 1 mg. Cette alteration dentaire peut apparaitre si les quantites recommandees ne sont pas respectees. Observations. – Les deux observations cliniques rapportees permettent de confirmer que la fluorose est une question de quantite d'agents fluores apportes. Le diagnostic etiologique permet toujours de mieux comprendre cette affection, evitable dans la plupart des cas. Conclusion. – La fluorose dentaire est le seul risque d'utilisation des fluorures, mais elle n'est pas une fatalite. Elle ne constitue pas un probleme de sante publique en France et le rapport benefices/risques est largement en faveur de l'utilisation de fluor. Les cas de fluorose sont relativement isoles, avec une etiologie qui peut etre rapportee aux parents, au praticien ou a la zone geographique d'habitation de l'enfant.
