Abstract Janus micromotors are self-propelled micro and nanoscale devices that combine different properties within a single entity. Material aspects are key factors influencing the locomotion and application of Janus micromotors. This timely review will provide a comprehensive overview of different materials and fabrication methods used for its preparation. Emerging applications of Janus swimmers for environmental water treatment, drug delivery, biodetoxification and analytical sensing will be also described. Prospects of this rapidly developing field will be given in the conclusions.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 104 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 1% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 1% |
