Abstract

Publisher Summary The world of telecommunications with its rapidly changing technology and ever-greater influence on the lives of people is sometimes difficult to predict in terms of the trends that determine what products and services are going to find success. This chapter explores different customer bases and methods to both assess clients' needs and maximize the benefits of Multiprotocol Label Switching Virtual Private Networks (MPLS VPNs) for clients. MPLS marketing must utilize a multipronged approach to be successful: market the technology, market the service, and market the hardware. The overall challenge in a difficult economy is how to sell a service or hardware when companies are sinking. Other challenges lie in selling to service providers. The chapter presents a business case study and a summary of the assumptions and conclusions of the business case and accompanying financial model.
