</script>In recent years, the understanding of the basic physical relationships between the nanoscale structure and the macroscale properties of PNCs has received considerable attention. The designing of nanocomposites with only the desired properties requires precise control of the dispersed structure of the silicate platelets in the polymer matrix, interactions between the matrix and silicate layers, and molecular ordering. The nanoscale dispersion of silicate layers in the polymer matrix offers the possibility of significant improvements in inherent mechanical properties of polymer matrix. This chapter critically reviews different mechanical properties of PNCs and how these properties are related to the structure of the nanocomposites.
