Abstract Air embolism is a well recognized complication of wounds of the neck, criminal abortion and vaginal insufflation, death resulting within a few minutes. Delayed air embolism following criminal abortion has been described, but a search of the literature has failed to reveal a case of delayed air embolism following a wound in the neck. Such a case is described in detail with a short comment on the possible reasons for the long interval between wounding and death from air embolism.
