Abstract The chemical reaction between pyridine and epoxy compounds has been investigated. This reaction disrupts the aromatic nature of the heterocyclic ring of pyridine, resulting in the formation of a polymeric material that contains cyclic amide structures. The polymer formed is not due to the homopolymerization of the epoxy groups. Based on the spectral studies, a reaction scheme is proposed. The order of reactivity for different pyridine derivatives has been obtained.
