Abstract The histologic response of submandibular glands of eighteen male rats to the intraglandular injection of sodium morrhuate was investigated. Our studies demonstrated that the glandular parenchyma survived the insult and was partially regenerated by the end of the third month. Some of the destructive changes observed were transitory, but others seemed to be more permanent in nature, as evidenced by the limited scar formation.
