The low-temperature luminescence properties of potassium lithium niobates K3Li2−xNb5+xO15+2x (0 < x < 0.5) are reported and discussed in terms of corner-sharing NbO6 octahedra. The quenching temperature of the luminescence is low and depends on the composition of the potassium lithium niobates. These compositions are important nonlinear optical materials in contrast with niobates with a high luminescence quenching temperature.
