Abstract By the placement of the maxillary posterior teeth in the posterior one half of the maxillary arch, the fulcrum line is located in the posterior part of the arch. Functional forces are thereby confined to the posterior one half of the maxillary arch, and excessive stress to the anterior residual ridge is minimized (Fig. 6).
