Abstract Some of the commonly used interocclusal recording methods were compared, and their working properties were summarized in relation to their fulfillment of their objectives. A centric interocclusal recording method has been described. The desirable characteristics found in this record and recording method are as follows: (1) The record has dimensional stability at temperatures tolerated in the mouth provided reasonable care in handling is used; (2) it is an accurate record of centric jaw relation that does not materially alter the mouth; (3) the method is easy to manipulate; and (4) the record has complete flexibility for modification, verifying, and reuse as an expanding range of clinical needs dictates. This record has few undesirable qualities except that a wax is involved. An added use of the record is to verify the accuracy of casts.
