Abstract In cases of severe trauma in children, demonstration of infact ureters during the evaluation of the urinary tract is mandatory. Early diagnosis and treatment of ureteral avulsion will produce good functional recovery whereas delays can cause complications such as retraction of the ureter, abscess, fibrosis, and chronic fistula formation, often leading to late nephrectomy.
