Abstract Emission from the 6G level of Gd3+ at about 205 nm is reported. The host lattices used are GdPO4, YF3, GdF3, BaGdF5 and YBO3. Emission from lower levels is also reported. The electronic 6I→8S line is not accompanied by vibronic side lines; the electronic 6G, 6D and 6P→8S lines, however, are accompanied by clear vibronic lines. In some cases an emission at about 186 nm was observed.
