Abstract The emission and excitation spectra of the luminescence of Li 4 WO 5 -U and MgWO 4 -U, measured at 4.2 K with high resolution, are reported. The vibrational structure in these spectra is discussed and some of the electronic transitions observed in the excitation spectra are assigned.
