Abstract An important sensing electrode has been developed for assay of the enzyme urease. It is based on the peak or steady-state potential obtained with the aid of a roller pump to control the concentration of urea against the surface of an ammonium ion electrode. The urease sensing electrode is comparable in simplicity and mode of action with pH measurements with a glass electrode.
