Abstract A case of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis is described, and corroborative data including representative radiographs and photomicrographs of the biopsy specimen of the lung are presented. The majority of patients discussed in the original monograph by Rosen et al. were symptomatic. The case presented here offers a unique opportunity to follow the natural history of this condition and to observe the effects of various therapeutic programs on its course.
