Abstract A patient is reported who sustained myocardial contusion with complete heart block, pericardial effusion and rupture of the aortic valve following blunt chest trauma. An attempt at direct surgical repair of the valvular lesion was unsuccessful. The diagnostic difficulties presented by traumatic heart disease are discussed, and the previous reports of patients with traumatic aortic regurgitation are summarized.
