Thyroid abscess following acute suppurative thyroiditis is a rare clinical condition. The ability of the thyroid gland to resist infection is well known, so that infection in the thyroid gland is rare. Intravenous antibiotics and hemithyroidectomy led to an uncomplicated recovery.
