Abstract

Hepatitis B virus (HBV)infection is a major cause of chronic hepatitis and cirrhosis,with an estimated 350 million people worldwide infected with the virus.Despite continuing advances in antiviral therapy,a cure for chronic HBV infection is considered an elusive goal.Thus,primary prevention by immunization with HBV vaccines remains the most effective means to control the transmission of HBV infection.
