This review highlights the key studies investigating various types of biomarkers in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).Several proteomic and metabolomic studies have been undertaken in both human DMD patients and animal models of DMD that have identified potential biomarkers in DMD. Although there have been a number of proteomic and metabolomic studies that have identified various potential biomarkers in DMD, more definitive studies still need to be undertaken in DMD patients to firmly correlate these biomarkers with diagnosis, disease progression, and monitoring the effects of novel treatment strategies being developed.

| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 7 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
