The principles of molecular graphics are discussed in context with the optimization of man-machine communication in molecular sciences. The state of the art in this field is demonstrated with several examples. The paper is focussed on the discussion of a strategic basis of the information transfer between human activities and computational processes. It is demonstrated that enhancement of interactivity in the visualization process may lead to the generation of new insight on one side and the development of new computational algorithms based on the human visual pattern recognition strategy.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 40 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% |
