Complications associated with epi dural or intrathecal opioid adminis tration include nausea and vomiting, pruritus, and respiratory depression1. Neurological complications are rare", although vertical nystagmus after epidural opioids was reported by Fish et a1 2 • We treated two patients in whom nystagmus was detected after intrathecal morphine administration. They were successfully treated with naloxone or diazepam. To our knowl edge, this is the first report of nystag mus following intrathecal administra tion of opioids.
