Complications associated with epi­ dural or intrathecal opioid adminis­ tration include nausea and vomiting, pruritus, and respiratory depression1. Neurological complications are rare", although vertical nystagmus after epidural opioids was reported by Fish et a1 2 • We treated two patients in whom nystagmus was detected after intrathecal morphine administration. They were successfully treated with naloxone or diazepam. To our knowl­ edge, this is the first report of nystag­ mus following intrathecal administra­ tion of opioids.
