In this paper, hydraulic resistance, critical tractive force and bed-load discharge in steep gravel-bed channels are investigated. If the velocity distribution, which is much affected by small relative submergence, is formulated, the resistance law, dimensionless critical tractive force and bed-load formula can be reasonably predicted, and they are quite different from those established in alluvial sand bed channel which are familiar to us.
