Quality, besides other image traits such as sportiness, safety and design, is an essential component of Siemens’ accomplishment in the automotive industry. In particular, product liability concerns necessitate the recording of quality-relevant and safety-relevant data. How this data is acquired at the respective workstation and carried along the production line is shown by an example of a solution from the front and rear axle assembly process at a well-known Bavarian car maker.
