Tailored tubes applications for steel body frames

Abstract

In order to expand the application range of steel technologies and products, the Research Department of ThyssenKrupp Stahl AG is working in close co-operation with concept planners and developers within the automotive industry to develop innovative solutions. This article presents the findings of the ULSAB-AVC (AVC: Advanced Vehicle Concept) study on Tailored Tubes. Tailored Tubes are tailored, laser welded special profiles of surface-treated sheet steel.
