For the homologation of busses and coaches, crash tests of entire vehicles are not required. Overturn tests are simulated on PC and the test of single components such as seats and their structure are carried out on the test bed. For years now, the Institute for Automotive Engineering at the Trier University of Applied Sciences has been engaged in the issue of coach transport security. In a head-on crash test and an overturn trial it is demonstrated how effective current passenger restraint systems are for passengers in real accident situations.
