Abstract

Massenaussterbe-Ereignisse durchlaufen drei Phasen: Aussterben, eine Phase, in der die Populationen uberlebender Arten sich stabilisieren, und eine Phase der erneuten Ausbreitung. Bisher beschaftigen sich die meisten Untersuchungen uber solche Ereignisse — besonders im Falle der Frasne/Famenne-Grenze (Kellwasser-Event) — ausschlieslich oder uberwiegend mit den Prozessen des Aussterbens von Arten. In dieser Untersuchung wird daruberhinaus die faunistische Erholung am Beispiel von Conodonten untersucht, die als einzige nektonische Fossil-Gruppe in den Gesteinen direkt im Hangenden des Oberen Kellwasser-Horizontes durch ihr haufiges Auftreten einen diversitats-statistischen Arbeitsansatz erlauben. Mit Hilfe dieser Methodik und auf der Basis einer hochauflosenden Stratigraphie konnen die oben angefuhrten Intervalle innerhalb des Events ausgegliedert werden. Zusatzlich ermoglicht die bisher einzigartig gunstige geologische Uberlieferung des Sessacker Schurfes VI die Unterteilung zumindest der Conodonten-Extinktion an der Frasne/Famenne-Grenze in vier unterscheidbare Einzelschritte. Je nach den individuellen Lebensbedingungen in der hohen Frasne-Stufe weist jedes einzelne Taxon dieser Fossilgruppe unterschiedliche evolutionare „Strategien“ oder Mechanismen auf, die ihm ein Uberleben des Massenaussterbe-Ereignisses ermoglichte.
