The characteristic anaesthetic and other pharmacological properties of phencyclidine, ketamine, dexoxadrol and etoxadrol and the structure-activity relationship of these compounds have been described. Their possible mode of action is discussed in reference to the central depressant actions of the sympathomimetic amines.
