Abstract

Apres uneintroduction rappelant les proprietes de « pleochroisme» — soit rectiligne, soit circulaire — de certaines substances naturelles (la tourmaline par exemple) dans le domaine de l’optique, l’auteur montre comment on peut realiser, dans le domaine des ondes hertziennes de frequences tres elevees, des structures artificielles douees de ces memes proprietes, tant pour l’un que pour l’autre type de polarisation. On peut ainsi faire desfiltres de polarisation pour ondes hertziennes au moyen de structures comparables a des cristaux pl ochroiques artificiels; on peut faire aussi descorrecteurs de polarisation pour ondes hertziennes au moyen de corps actifs artificiels doues de pouvoir rotatoire, c’est-a-dire capables de faire tourner le plan de polarisation des ondes d’un angle predetermine. L’auteur fournit desresultats d’experience, apres avoir decrit le montage experimental utilise et les conditions operatoires adoptees. Il termine par l’indication de diverses possibilites d’applications.
