L’auteur a parle des differentes facons dont se fait le metabolisme des hydrates de carbone: elles comprennent la voie glycolytique Embden-Meyerhof, le cycle de l’acide citrique et la voie du phosphate pentose avec quelques allusions a leurs fonctions et a leur signification. Il a parle ensuite du controle des taux du sucre sanguin en insistant particulierement sur le ro1e du foie comme organe glucostatique et sur 1’interrelation entre le metabolisme des graisses et celui des hydrates de carbone.
