1. When the finger is immersed in water between 0° and 6°C. the initial vasoconstriction is usually, and the subsequent vasoconstrictions are occasionally, sudden in onset and complete in degree. 2. The initial vasodilatation is usually rapid in onset. 3. It is suggested that the rapidity of these responses may be due to a nervous co-ordination of the vascular elements concerned.
