Abstract

1. 104,697 BCG vaccinations are analysed. 4,112 of these persons were contacts. The period covers four years. 2. The over-all conversion rate was 97·25 per cent. 3. The duration of immunity is discussed. 4. Undesirable reactions numbered 16 (0·011 per cent.). 5. Tuberculous disease developed in 10 immunised individuals (0·0071 per cent.) with 1 death. Eleven further cases occurred in persons who were incubating tuberculous disease about the time of vaccination (0·0078 per cent.) with 4 deaths. 6. The vaccine, tuberculin tests, and technique employed are described.
