A review of the possible pathogenesis in the mongoloid is presented. The problem of diagnosis in early infancy is emphasized and additional diagnostic criteria submitted, based onx-ray anomalies in the pelvis of the young mongoloid. Attention is drawn to the sociological and psychological problems associated with mongolism. A submission is made that the young mongoloid should not be institutionalised, but cared for at home.
