1. Analysis of a series of cases with lower nephron nephrosis caused by war injuries demonstrates the commonest traumatic cause to be vascular damage, and the next commonest to be crushing injury of muscle masses. 2. Reasons are advanced which suggest that the separation of these two groups from each other is artificial. 3. The association of the syndrome with shock is taken to indicate that the latter may have a role in the pathogenesis of the condition.
