Abstract

1Department of Botany, University of Washington, Seattle 5, Washington. Received for publication January 29, 1964. of Vancouver Island. The rest were collected in the San Juan Islands. The method used for assay is that of Cameron, Ross, and Percival (1948), which consists briefly of the following steps: Dry the weed at 25?-30? C; grind, using a 64 mesh screen, reflux for eight hours in N. sulphuric acid; neutralize, and estimate the reducing power before and after treatment with yeast.
