Further advancement of ICP-AES analytical technique is hindered by complex spectral interferences. The correction algorithms recently proposed need too much computation and time to run in real time on general microcomputers. In this paper, a new kind of spectral interference fast correcting system (SIFCS) was developed, in which the hardware is a TMS32020 digital signal processing board in IBM-PC I/O channel and the software is composed of a correcting program based on a new effective algorithm and a master program on IBM-PC. Experiments show that the processing speed on SIFCS is 50–100 times faster than that on IBM-PC/AT. This makes real-time correction of spectral interferences feasible.
