Trichobezoars are infrequently encountered today. They are rare in children. Four cases, encountered between 1978–1982 have been presented and the literature has been reviewed. Trichophagy is considered a manifestation of personality maladjustment and may be habit forming. Trichoberzoars have to be surgically or endoscopically removed and guidance is necessary to prevent recurrences.
