The properties of cerium trifluoride scintillating crystals, grown in Russia using the Stockbarger's method, were investigated. The characteristics of CeF3, PbWO4, Bi4Ge3O12, and BaF2 crystals were compared for use in electromagnetic calorimeters to detect electrons and γ-rays of medium and high energies.
