Decay parameters of Ω−

Decay parameters of Ω−

Abstract

As is well known, the tenfohl representat ion of the S U 3 group fGr baryon isobars predicts the existence of an isosinglet, called gl-, wi th strangeness 3 and mass 1685 (i4). I ts spin and par i ty are supposed to be ~+. Because of its mass and strangeness, i t is a stable isobar which can decay only by s t rangeness-changing weak interact ions (5). The exis tence of a par t ic le of the above mass and decay ( ~ ~ E o + ~ -) has recent ly been confirmed by the Brookhaven 80 inch hydrogen bubble chamber group (6). The object of this le t ter is to present a possible me thod of de termining nonleptonie decay parameters of £2f rom exper imenta l results, when a considerable number become awfilable for analysis. General discussions on s t rong and weak decays of a spin .~ system have been given by several authors in the past (>~0). The me thod presented here is to some ex ten t based on these previous works.
