Neonatal septicemia continues to be a significant cause of increased morbidity and mortality. The deficiencies of host defense mechanisms and the exposure to a variety of virulent organisms make the neonate extremely vulnerable. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate antimicrobial therapy is necessary. When conventional treatment is not successful, alternative immunotherapy may be life saving.
