Abstract

Der Optimierungsansatz der Nachfrage nach internationalen Reserven. — Der vorliegende Aufsatz stellt sowohl eine ubersicht als auch eine Erweiterung der gegenwArtigen Kosten-Nutzen-Analyse der Nachfrage nach internationalen Reserven dar, indem der Versuch unternommen wird, Erkenntnisse der gegenwArtigen Geldtheorie fur die Logsung gewisser Probleme des internationalen WAhrungssystems zu nutzen. Zahlungsbilanzungleichgewichte konnen entweder uber BestandsverAnderungen der Reserven finanziert werden oder/und durch wirtschaftspolitische Ma\nahmen beseitigt werden, so da\ die Bestimmung des Gleichgewichtsniveaus der Reserven und die Bestimmung der Gleichgewichtsrate der Zahlungsbilanz-Anpassungspolitiken simultan erfolgen. Es wird u. a. gezeigt, da\ das Vorsichtsmotiv das relevanteste Motiv der Reservehaltung ist und da\ ein Zentralbankverhalten auch dann als optimal angesehen werden kann, wenn die Zahlungsbilanz-Anpassungspolitik diskontinuierlich und jeweils in bezug auf uberschusse und Defizite asymmetrisch eingesetzt wird und wenn sie gleichzeitig mehrere wirtschaftspolitische Instrumente verwendet inklusive eines gewissen Wechselkurs-FlexibilitAtsgrads. Der Aufsatz schlie\t mit den wirtschaftspolitischen Fragen nach dem »adAquatenc« und »optimalen« Niveau an WAhrungsreserven fur ein Land bzw. fur die Weltwirtschaft ab.
