Strain and strength in uniaxial compression have been examined for specimens with various densities made by uniaxial pressing of thermally expanded graphite powders, which have been produced by the heat treatment of intercalated graphite compounds. Low-density graphite specimens formed at 600°C have the highest strain resistance.
