Psychotic symptoms in the nondemented elderly, especially in the very old, are more common than previously thought. To discover those symptoms during a clinical evaluation it is very necessary to have information from a key informant because the elderly are reluctant to report those symptoms. Underlying medical conditions and concomitant medications, dementia, and psychiatric comorbidity must be ruled out or treated.
